subjects for the Preliminary and Main Examinations.
A. Preliminary
Examination
The Examination shall comprise
of two compulsory papers of 200 marks each. The Examination shall comprise of
two compulsory Papers of 200 marks each.
Note :
(i) Both the question papers
will be of the objective type (multiple choice questions).
(ii) The
General Studies Paper-II of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examinationwill be
a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%
(iii) The question papers will
be set both in Hindi and English.
(iv) Details of the syllabi are
indicated in part A of Section III.
(v) Each paper will be of two
hours duration.
Blind

Candidates may
choose any one of the optional subject from amongst the list of subjects given
in para 2 below
NOTE :
(i) The papers on Indian
languages and English (Paper A and Paper B) will be of Matriculation or
equivalent standard and will be of qualifying nature. The marks obtained in
these papers will not be counted for ranking.
(ii) Evaluation of the papers,
namely, ‘Essay’, General Studies and Optional Subject of all the candidates
would be done simultaneously along with evaluation of their qualifying papers
on 'Indian Languages' and 'English' but the papers on ‘Essay’, General Studies
and Optional Subject of only such candidates will be taken cognizance who
attain 25% marks in ‘Indian Language and 25% marks in English as minimum
qualifying standards
in these
qualifying papers.
(iii)
The paper A on Indian Language will not, however, be compulsory for candidates
hailing from the States of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram,
Nagaland and Sikkim.
(iv) Marks obtained by the candidates for the
Paper-I-VII only will be counted for merit ranking. However, the Commission
will have the discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all of these papers.
(v) For the Language
medium/literature of languages, the scripts to be used by the candidates will

NOTE:
(i) The question papers for the
examination will be of conventional (essay) type.
(ii) Each paper will be of three
hours duration.
(iii) Candidates will have the
option to answer all the question papers, except the Qualifying Language papers
Paper-A and Paper-B, in any of the languages included in the Eighth Schedule to
the Constitution of India or in English.
(iv) Candidates exercising the
option to answer Papers in any one of the languages mentioned above may, if
they so desire, give English version within brackets of only the description of
the technical terms, if any, in addition to the version in the language opted
by them. Candidates should, however, note that if they misuse the above rule, a
deduction will be made on this account from the total marks otherwise accruing
to them and in extreme cases; their script(s) will not be valued for being in
an unauthorized medium.
(v) The question papers (other
than the literature of language papers) will be set in Hindi and English only.
(vi) The details of the syllabi
are set out in Part B of Section III.
Instructions to the Candidates
for filling online applications
Candidates are required to apply Online using the website www.upsconline.nic.in

Detailed instructions for filling up Online applications

Candidates will be required to complete the Online
Application Form containing two stages viz. Part-I and Part-II as per the
instructions available in the above mentioned site through drop down menus.
The candidates are required to pay a
fee of Rs.100/- Rupees One Hundred only) [excepting SC/ST/ Female/Physically Handicapped
candidates who are exempted from payment of fee] either by depositing the money
in any branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of
India/State Bank of Bikaner & jaipur/State Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of
Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala/State Bank of Travancore or by using any
Visa/Master Credit/ Debit Card.
Before start filling up of Online
Application, a candidate must have his/her photograph and signature duly
scanned in the jpg format in such a manner that each file should not exceed 40 KB and
must not be less than 3 KB in size for the photograph and 1 KB for the
signature.
The Online applications(Part I and II) can be filled from 23rd May, 2015
to 19th June, 2015 till 11.59
p.m., after
which link will be disabled. Applicants should avoid submitting
multiple applications. However, if due to any unavoidable circumstances, any
applicant submits multiple applications then he/she must ensure that the
applications with higher RID is complete in all respects. In case of multiple applications, the applications with
higher RID shall be entertained by the Commission and fee paid against one RID
shall not be adjusted against any other RID. The applicants must ensure that while
filling their Application Form, they are providing their valid and active
E-Mail IDs as the Commission may use electronic mode of communication while
contacting them at different stages of examination process.
The applicants are advised to check their emails at
regular intervals and ensure that the email address ending with @ nic.in are
directed to their inbox folder and not to the SPAM folder or any other folder.
Candidates are strongly advised
to apply online well in time without waiting for ththe last date for submission of Online Applications.
